"a literal Savior, even Jesus Christ, came down and paid the price for our sins and life" Week 67

Hello Everyone!

So this week was good.  We were able to find some new people to teach and it was just nice all around!

One night we were out walking and this man was riding by on his bike. We said hi and he said hi and kept going so we yelled out God bless! He stopped and came back, he said you aren't the Mormons are you? and we were like yep we are! and he said I was in America in rehab and they had us read from the book of Mormon and remember what we read before we could leave. He said, I need to learn more about it, I need to get baptized. Can you help me? We said definetly and set up an appointment for the next night. As we were walking there he came flying by on his bike and said sorry family problems cant meet tonight come tomorrow! All as he just flew past us and never stopped. So we went the next night and he let us in and we taught about the restoration and commited him to be baptized on march 19th. He said definetly. It turns out he is just outside our area so we reffered it to the elders in that area. It was a cool experience though!

Another day we went to teach one of our investigators and his older brother was there. His brother is a pastor in his church and had heard we were teaching his brother and family. (this is the family from Africa that is super awesome). So we walked in and straight away he tried to start bashing us.  He went on and on and on and we just sat there. I could see George (our investigator) was getting confused and looked pretty bored. Eventually the pastor stopped talking and said "see you couldn't possibly be right.  None of it is true". He had probably talked for 15 minutes straight. Then we bore our testimonies that we knew it was true without a doubt in our mind. It was only a minute or so but he had nothing to say and I watched George and as we bore our testimonies.  The Spirit was in the room. George sat up and listened intently. We didn't argue with the pastor, just stated what we knew. At the end we shook hands and left. As we walked out the door a man was riding by on his bike. We said hi, he said hi, and kept riding.  Then he stopped turned around and said, hey do you know the book of Mormon? We said yes,  and he said a long time ago missionaries gave me a copy but it was lost when I moved. I loved what they were teaching me will you come to my home and teach me more? We have a appointment on Thursday this week. The pastor guy didn't look to happy about it though haha;)

So in the last 6 weeks we have given out 41 book of Mormons.  It's been cool using it as our main way to teach people. It's such a blessing to have another witness that everything the Bible claims happened really did happen. That a literal Savior, even Jesus Christ, came down and paid the price for our sins and life. Just the other day we were talking to this guy at the bus station and he was just saying how he was losing his faith because the Bible had just been changed so much that sometimes he found contradictions in it and he was really struggling over it. We taught him about the book of Mormon and he asked for one right away. It is such an amazing book of scripture.

Love you all!

"...they are all saying their prayers even with us on the side of the road." Week 65

Hello Everyone!

So this has been a good week! We were able to meet with heaps of our investigators. They are all doing good.  We are just working on getting them to church more! SO the baptism of that one family has been pushed back a week or two just so they can have some more time to learn and come to church.

So that family truly is awesome. They are from Nigeria and just love learning about this gospel. Just yesterday we were over there and we were ending our lesson with them and as I prayed everytime I said Jesus Christ they would say amen because they thought I was ending the prayer.  By the end everyone was just cracking up so I ended it quick haha. We are growing close to them though, I baked them my moms famous cinnamon rolls and  they loved it!

We work with these kids a couple times a week that are the nieces and nephews of a recent convert. This week has been awesome with them. They want to be baptized so badly we just need to work with the parents more, some are for it some are not. We will see though!

The other week we were out doing a miracle walk and we ran into this group of kids that always ride their bikes around. They were making fun of us and all that and following us and finally I turned aro und and was like hey, you want to see a magic trick? and they were like ya sure and came riding in. I started doing some magic and they went crazy haha, Now we meet with them once or twice a week and they are all saying their prayers even with us on the side of the road. They say we are part of their group now haha. They are really cool though, they probably range from 10-16 years old and there is like 8 of them. They love meeting up and learning and they also like the occasional magic trick haha.

its been cool the last 2 weeks or so we just walk everywhere and we have been able to talk to a lot of kids. Around this area there is heaps of government housing and all that and so a lot of these kids come from some hard backgrounds. But we have just levelled with them, we talk to them they tell us whats going on in their life and we help them. We pray with them and just be their friend. Now when we walk around its like all the kids know us and will come running up to us and just walk with us wherever we are going. I do some magic for them too  haha, I love magic! I will usually show them the trick after though!

I learned a new skill this week! I can now tear phone books in half so that has been fun!

Well everyone have a good week! love you!
