"What Any Normal Person Would Do!" Week 1

ok mom so i will start at the beginning. I was the only missionary on my plane and when i got there no one was waiting for me. I had no clue what to do so i did what any normal person would do i went up to this kinda weird looking old man and said hey ill pay you 20 bucks if you take me to the provo temple. he was like ok sure and we went out to the parking lot got in his car and started driving. it was about an hour drive and as soon as we started driving he started cussing like crazy like every sentence. so i was a little worried at first but eventually we started talking about family and i tied it into the first discussion and i by the end of the car ride he was crying he didnt say much but he did feel the spirit of the message he even knocked the price down to 19 dollars haha i guess thats what the message was worth to him. but anyway I got there at like 3pm so ithere was no one waiting to greet me so when i walked in i just kinda figured out where to go from the front desk lady. I got to the residence halls (thats where we sleep) and met my companion, he is exactly like me its awesome we have the same jokes and have had some in depth super hero origin talks. but we also have felt the spirit very strongly as we have taught together. Anyway later that first night we met with a real investigator like not a fake one cause he was cussing and all that and the branch pres. told us he was a real investigator but the one thing i really realized is that it is so much different than i thought. i wanted to throw all of this info at him and everything i know and i realized thats not what im here to do i have to get to know this man i have to help him feel the spirit not turn him into a scriptorian who knows everything about our church. i dont have to much time right now so i gotta kinda skip ahead. the second day we met our zone leaders and the welcomed my district which has 8 elders and 4 sisters. they told us to become family and to respect the rules. they said that obedience brings blessings but exact obedience brings miracles. we had alot of good lessons that day and i learned alot. thursday night we met our branch president and he interviwed us all alone and got to know us and then had us all bear our testimonys to eachother it was an amazing powerful experience. then he began talking and said elders and sisters i dont usually do this with new missionarys but elder white would you please stand up. then something crazy happened i was made district leader and given all of these responsibilities and meetings i had to learn about with pretty much no guidance. i had to set district goals and one thing i really have stressed on my district to the elders is we are going to take care of our sisters we have all grown so close its amazing io love them all so much. another thing i had our district do is before each meal we say a prayer as a district and even though everyone stares at us its what we do and we love it. i have learned so much since i have been here its incredible. each friday i get to interview the elders in my district one by one and help them. its amazing when you know what an elder is struggling with and then to see them shrug it off and press forward i love them all so much. our sisters are really opening up to us as we include them and get to know them our district has become so close and so strong. i found a new family with them and wasnt to home sick until you mentioned bronywn and it all came flooding back. we have 2 investigators right now and its so awesome being able to teach them. me and my companion memorized the first vision account and when he delivered it and we bore testimony of it it was so powerful. on friday i got a letter saying that i am getting a temporary assignment because of my visa so im bummed out about that and was really down on friday and had my companion give me a blessing and had the elders in my district join us it was a powerfull night and now im even kinda excited for it. the sisters call me the candy man since i am always bringing them waterbottles snacks and treats so they dont starve in class. on sunday i had one of the most powerfull spiritual experiences of my life. we had alot of options on different videos to attend but we decided to go to one that is only availible in the mtc its by elder bednar and it was amazing no one could stop crying and i learned so much. he spoke about the character of christ and left us with so many challenges that i am gonna accomplish over these next two years. one of my elders in my district is more quiet and was really struggling with his companionship and he came to me asking what he could do. i was kinda blown back that he was asking me i had only been her for 3 days and he was asking me??? well i asked if they were having companionship prayer and he said no, i told him that if he would commit to that they would grow closer and now only 2 days later they are one of our closes companionship's. i love them so much. last night there was a small confrontation there was a couple elders running around spraying silly string and throwing trash and not 

sorry let me finish that email anyways so the elders were being crazy and it was supposed to be quiet time and all that so i went out there and put an end to it i did it nicley at first and they all started laughing at me calling me goody good but then my friend the hulk who i dont have a picture of yet but he is 6 foot 6 and massive and wrestled came up behind me and we together were intimidating enough for the 8 of them and we even got them to pick it all up. i love it so far and cant wait to learn more i love you mom asnd dad and everyone else.
