G'day everyone!
This was a good week. We were able to find some sweet new investigators, and we almost died from too much food haha.
The first cool investigator we found is Angela. She is from Chile and is a single mum with two young daughters. We found her like 6 weeks ago or so and had a good talk. We started out by just serving her. We would go and do her lawn for her every two weeks, and this last week after doing the lawn she came up to us and stated asking some questions. She said her best friend was actually a member and she was kinda curious. We set up an appointment to teach her on Friday. It went super awesome we taught the restoration and felt the Spirit. We challenged her to read through the pamphlet and write any questions she had. We see her on Thursday this week. So keep her in your prayers please!
The second cool investigator we found is Stephen. He just came over from New Zealand and actually lives with his relatives who are members of our ward. They are a little less active though. He is 18 but has the body of a 25 year old. He is massive! He is here to play rugby for a big team so that's pretty sweet. Anyway, we have been working with the family for a while. They are all Samoan so it's impossible to go there without being fed. You walk in and the say elders sit down sit down, 20 minutes later they say elders come to the table. You walk over and the Samoan tradition is when they have guests they will place a bowl of warm water in front of you to wash your hands, then you eat (using only your hands, which is awesome by the way) and when you are done they bring another bowl to clean up. This time as we were eating though it ended up just being us and Stephen in the kitchen. We started talking to him and he was telling us about how his life was kinda taking a downward turn and that he was getting mixed up with the wrong guys. We started talking about church and the conversation led into the restoration. It was a powerful one. He said to us that when we spoke he could just feel it, he could feel peace. He committed to coming to church on Sunday and the whole family ended up coming! It was awesome.
Another sweet experience we had was at an Islander party on Friday night that a member threw for the homecoming of his daughter from her mission. There were about 200-300 people in this massive hall (all samoan) and we were all sitting at some tables facing the front of the hall. At the front of the hall there was a long white table facing everyone else. It had 10 or so seats at it and it was empty. Then the father of the daughter called up some people to sit at the table. First was the bishop and stake president. Then the grandma and grandpa. Then us... we were surprised to hear our names called because in their culture to sit at the head table is a huge honor. So we went up and they had us sit in the middle. Then some people from the Cook Islands came and did a sweet performance for us with drums and Haka's and all that. After, the people at the front table got served a feast. They brought all this food and drink to us. It was crazy how much food they thought we could eat haha. Just tray after tray and plate after plate. They treated us like royalty. As soon as our cup was a quarter empty it was filled again. We literally almost died from how much they made us eat haha. It was a really cool experience though. It was really awesome to see because it was a family we helped bring back into the gospel the first time I was here. I love them so much. Honestly I love the island culture, its rad.
I will send some pictures later!
Love you all heaps!
